Preboarding and Email Steps

Preboarding

Onboarding can start before a new hire has a work account or Slack access. A hire with a future start date syncs from your HRIS as a preboarder, and the messages you schedule before day one go to their personal email.

There's no separate trigger to set up. A preboarding track is an ordinary first-day track with steps scheduled before the first day, so everything from day one onward runs in Slack as usual.

On their first day, once a work email comes through, Doozy makes them a regular member and the rest of the track picks up in Slack. Preboarders can sit in cohorts too, joining the cohort channel on day one.

  • Preboarders show up in your workspace members list with a Preboarder badge
  • Preboarders with no personal email on file are flagged so their steps don't sit waiting

Preboarding needs a connected HRIS and email delivery. Both are switched on per account: email hello@doozy.live to get set up.

See preboarding on the onboarding page, or read the preboarding docs.

Email steps

Email is a step type in the track builder, next to Slack message. Message steps can be sent by email to anyone, in any track, not only before day one.

  • Cc or bcc a hire's manager, mentor, a specific member, or a fixed address
  • Set the subject, reply-to address, and sender name on each email step
  • Images in a message step render inline in the email

Quizzes, surveys, polls, tasks, introductions, and mentor assignments stay in Slack.

Email delivery is switched on per account, the same as preboarding: email hello@doozy.live to get set up.
